This site is my new experiment, to organize some ideas I've been mulling over for playing games and campaigns with a focus on mercenary units.
One concept is the idea that each side will have a certain core of troops troops based around some sort of common loyalty -- city, village, kingdom, tribe, etc. But beyond that they will bargain with, influence, and buy additional mercenary troops. There may be additional rules covering the relationship of a given mercenary unit or hero and their employer, their opponent, other mercenaries hired by their employer, and other mercenaries hired by their opponent.
I also have plans for a variety of game types, including multi-player games where two (or more) players represent the two employers and their loyalist core, while other players will represent and play various mercenary factions who can be hired, bargained with, tempted into treachery, etc. This may get increasingly complex and based on a given scenario in which each player has their own set of motivations.
There will be plenty of background and photos of miniatures.
Some of this is already written out, or at least outlined, in various documents. But there's still a lot to do. I've only started to set up the skeleton of this site -- getting a rough example for pages and individual elements (like WFB3 & KoW2 references) formatted. There are a few mercenary unit pages in various stages of construction...
